YOGA THERAPY
YOGA improves strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and coordination, as well as spinal alignment through yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health.
It also strengthens core muscles and helps improve and maintain good posture.
Therapeutic yoga uses yoga techniques to reduce pain and improve function, to help prevent injury and rehabilitate and strengthen weaknesses in the body, or after injury.
Modern yoga therapy covers a broad range of therapeutic techniques. Yoga therapy can be an adjunct therapy to complement other forms of treatment, or can be used to directly treat a specific issue.
Yoga therapy:
- strengthens different systems in the body: heart and cardiovascular system, lungs, muscles and nervous system.
- improves functions of the body as a whole, fosters psychological well-being and improves oxygen delivery to tissues.
- improves digestive system
- reduces stress, from migraine headaches and irritable bowel syndrome to potentially life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, and depression.
